Mr. Gérard Amangoua is a MBA graduate from the University of Baltimore, Maryland in the US since 1982, after earning a Master of Management at the University of Paris I, Sorbonne in France in 1979. His double profile of a senior economist and manager has helped him hold several senior positions in the foreign offices of the US Government as senior commercial specialist at the US Foreign Commercial Service at the US Embassy in Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire) from October 1084 to March 2002, and in the private sector, as Deputy CEO of APEX-CI, a trade promotion organization in charge of promotion of Ivorian-made products at the international market-place.
Mr. Amangoua has also held other senior poisitions as Executive Director of NEPAD Business Group – Côte d’Ivoire, and West Africa, and Executive Director of Global Compact Network in Côte d’Ivoire, leading the local network including key senior officials of the public administration, the private sector, and civil society organizations. Up to today, he is in charge of the implementation of the export national strategy within the National Development Plan, on behalf of SME’s.
With a strong capacity of negotiation in country’s policy matters on behalf of the local and international private sector, and generally at the sub-region level, Mr. Amangoua has a perfect knowledge of the Ivorian administration whereabouts, and has demonstrated his quality of listening and persuasion with his counterparts in providing a say in the decision making process. As for his involvement in the formulation of reforms and tangible actions on the ground regarding structuring programs, he has showed indoubtful qualities on monitoring of several projects and programs.
Regarding the private sector, M. Amangoua has been in the front of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) eligibility process of the country since 2009 up to todate, on behalf of the private sector, participating to many high-level consultations with the MCC, rating agencies, and the US administration.
Mr. Amangoua is bilingual, speaks and write both languages, French and English. He works in several working groups, including the AGOA Commission, the Eco- diplomatic Committee inside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and works at the MCC indicator monitoring team as manager of the ruling justy category. His hobbies are sport, contemporary history, and reading.
